From cribs to college, we serve kids in foster care.
ABOUT US
Who We Are
James Storehouse is a 501(c)(3) community based non-profit established in 2012. We are located in Newbury Park, CA and we partner with local public and private child welfare agencies. From cribs to college, James Storehouse supports children in foster care, youth aging-out of foster care, children who have been commercially sexually exploited, children “at-risk” of removal, and all their caregiving families. We have received commendations from Los Angeles County and Ventura County recognizing our service to the child-welfare community.
Our Mission
At the James Storehouse Resource Center we are committed to breaking multi-generational cycles of abuse, neglect, and poverty in our local community. First, we do this by fulfilling emergency requests to expedite safe foster care placements of babies, children and teens and by providing ongoing essential resources in our free boutiques and warehouses. Further resources include providing safe & reliable housing and transportation to help youth aging-out successfully launch into independence. Second, we foster emotional healing through restorative relationships. We do this by hosting baby showers, life skills classes, mentorship programs, and court-ordered visitations. Finally, we host regular community events to encourage awareness and motivate community participation in support of our most vulnerable children.
Why We Care
There are over 400,000 children in foster care. Many face unimaginable neglect, abuse, or abandonment and these children are left feeling rejected and alone. Children in the foster care system are more susceptible to a variety of challenges such as homelessness, incarceration, teen pregnancy, human trafficking, substance abuse, and limited education. Our Vision
James Storehouse is inspired by the Bible verse, James 1:27, which “calls us to pursue religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless by providing for and looking after orphans and widows in distress.” James Storehouse envisions a future where no child is left behind, families are thriving and strengthened, and community members join together to care for the most vulnerable in our society, especially children in the child welfare system.
