Food Pantry
In April 2020, James Storehouse launched an emergency food pantry program. Far too many of the children we serve experience “food insecurity,” meaning they do not know where their next meal will come from. In response, we stock shelf-stable pantry items and fresh, refrigerated groceries at our Resource Center. Additionally, we make weekly deliveries of groceries to under-resourced elementary schools and neighborhoods for families limited by transportation. This is a vital aspect of foster care prevention. Surprisingly, many children enter foster care simply because their families don’t have access to adequate food supplies. Access to food is also a huge relief for busy families taking multiple children into their home as well as youth aging out of care who have no one to help them with meals. Supporting children and families with food is one way we can keep families together and thriving!
